Crash kills two in Kalamazoo County

Authorities say a motorcyclist struck a deer in southwestern Michigan, causing a crash that killed the rider as well as another motorist. The crash happened early Tuesday in Cooper Township, near Kalamazoo. Authorities at the scene in Kalamazoo County say the motorcyclist, Theobald Metzer, 55, of Kalamazoo, was thrown from the bike and hit by the other motorist, who then crashed his vehicle. The driver of the car was identified as 78-year-old Edmund Janke of Otsego.   Earl Vest, who lives near the scene, told MLive.com that he heard the crash about 4:30 a.m. and came outside to find the motorist’s vehicle flipped over. Vest called 911 and emergency workers were there within about 10 minutes.  The road was closed as authorities investigated.  (AP)
