A pair of crowd-friendly events Tuesday drew large numbers of people to the St. Joseph County Grange Fair.
Billed as “A Night of Destruction,” an off-road derby and demolition derby were well received by fans in the grandstand area.
Meanwhile, a show ring to the east end of the fairgrounds featured chuck wagon races, an event in which 12, two-person teams participated.
The winning team featured Jones residents Travis VanHeukelum and Dustin Kline. They took home $120 for winning the single-elimination competition, and had a winning time of two minutes and 32 seconds.
The week-long fair reaches its midway point today, as Seniors Day includes 4-H open-class beef show, live music and harness racing under the lights, starting at 5 p.m.
Fair organizers said hundreds of prizes will be given away during the harness racing.
