Mary Ann Nightingale, age 80, of Colon, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo after a short illness.
Mary Ann was born July 18, 1933, in Leonidas, a daughter to the late Earl and Ruth (Craft) Hammond.
Mary Ann had lived most all her life in Colon and Leonidas, graduating from Colon High School, as valedictorian of the Class of 1951.
On June 21, 1952, she married Charles E. Nightingale in Factoryville.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and an active member of the Factoryville Bible Church, where she had played the piano and was the word of life teen leader for many years.
She is survived by her husband Charles of Colon; children, Dave (Deb) Nightingale of Schroon Lake, NY, Cindy (Dwight) Hostetler of Marcellus, Cathy (David) Mostrom of Centreville and Chris (Renee) Nightingale of Colon; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three foster children, Ray, Evelyn and Rosetta Copas all of Colon.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Cheryl Nightingale; brother Meryl Hammond; 2 sister, Margaret Strong and Maxine Teft.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Factoryville Bible Church. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Ann Nightingale will be Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Factoryville Bible Church with Pastor Fred A. Goebert and Dave Nightingale officiating. A graveside committal service will be held later at 2 p.m. at North Sherwood Cemetery.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Mary Ann to the Factoryville Bible Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.
