Oma Pendergrass, 88, of Three Rivers, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Oma was born in Hardy, Ark. on Oct. 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert and Lillie (Davis) Vardell. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Three Rivers. She enjoyed bird watching, shopping at Goodwill, country music and spending time with her dog “Pee Wee.” She was married to James A. Pendergrass in Hardy, Ark. on Aug. 10, 1946; he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1996. Surviving are three children, Bettie Ann (Richard) Kilburn of White Pigeon, Darlene (Jake Goens) Slater of Bangor and James A. (Kathryn) Pendergrass Jr. of Mendon; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Flora May Mitchell of Florida and Ora “Pansy” Pierce of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers, Mattie, Faye, Alice, Virgil, Bill and Toby. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the LANGELAND FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 622 S. Burdick St., where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Pastor Kyle Foster will officiate with interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
