Wilma Hendricks, 90

Wilma Ruth (Good) Hendricks, 90, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, at Sturgis Hospital.

She was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Kewanna, Ind., a daughter of Charles and Evie Good. She graduated from Star City High School and South Bend College of Commence in South Bend. She worked at Singer Sewing Machine Company, Weyerhauser in White Pigeon, Formed Tubes in Sturgis and Trio Chevrolet in White Pigeon.

On Jan. 11, 1942, she married Delvin S. Hendricks in Kewanna. In 1943, her husband joined the Army Air Corps for three years, one year spent in Italy. She and her young son lived with the mother-in-law, Vera Hendricks. When her husband returned from the service they purchased a dairy farm southeast of White Pigeon.

She was a member of White Pigeon Church of Christ, Michigan Farm Bureau, County Extension Club, White Pigeon Grange and, Lima United Methodist Church and attended Bayshore Community Chapel in North Fort Meyers, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her oldest son, Douglas, in 2008; her parents; and a sister, Slyvia Griffith.

She is survived by a son, David (Susie) Hendricks of Manistee; a daughter-in-law, Gerri Hendricks of Klinger Lake; three grandchildren, Ted (Cheri) Hendricks of Bridgman, Julie (Perry) Gipson of Union City and Laura (Eric) Hall of Indian River. Also surviving are two stepgrandchildren, Jenny (Eric) Bielas of Kingsley and David Picardat of Chicago; eight great-grandchildren, Todd, Natalie and Matt Hendricks, Emma, Ben and Rebecca Hall and Kaden and Portia Gipson; and four stepgrandchildren, Bode and Barrett Bielas and Jasmine and Tyler Gipson.

Visitation will held 6-8 p.m. Friday and 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Barry Edds of White Pigeon Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to Lima United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association.
