Alan Stump, 67

Alan R. Stump, age 67, of Colon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at his home.

Alan was born Aug. 24, 1946, in Sturgis, a son to the late Orris and Nina (James) Stump.

Alan graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967.

Alan was married to Carol Donley from 1968 to 2000. On Nov. 18, 2005, he married Paula A. (Nelson) Langdon in Sherwood.

He had worked as a machinist for Burr Oak Tool and Gauge in Sturgis retiring in 2008.

Alan was a member of the Crossroads Bible Church in Sherwood and enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife Paula Stump of Colon; two sons, Mark A. (Becky McAllister) Stump of Grass Lake, Matthew A. (Bev) Stump of Batavia, Ohio; one grandson, Kaleb Stump and step grandson’s Tyler and Austin Hall; four step children, Suzanne (Mark) Eveleth of Sherwood, Douglas (Laurie) Langdon of Sherwood, Rick and Stephen Langdon both of Sherwood; step grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Langdon, Jon Langdon, Mark, Jim and Katey Eveleth, Will Langdon, Rachel Rinn and Jennifer Eveleth; step great-grandchildren Easton, Abbey, Amy, Sarah and Tommy; brother Leon (Phyllis) Stump of Sturgis; sister, Dorothy Pierce of Portage; brother-in-law Floyd Mallow of Bronson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sister’s Pauline Heck, Lois Frayes, Ruth Mallow; and two brother’s Robert and Phill Stump.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Alan R. Stump will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Trent Hammond of the Crossroads Bible Church officiating. Cremation will follow, with private internment of ashes in Sherwood Cemetery at a later date.

If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Alan to the family or Crossroads Bible Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
