Lawrence B. “Larry” Watson Jr., age 65, of Colon, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Sturgis, a son of Lawrence and Janet (Eshelman) Watson Sr. Larry graduated from Colon High School in 1966 and received a degree in business management from Western Michigan University in 1971.
On July 31, 1992, he married Linda (Abbott) Salvesen in Kalamazoo. Larry was employed in manufacturing in Van Wert, Ohio, Kalamazoo and White Pigeon. He was an active member of the Colon Lions Club, Colon Food pantry, Colon Historical Society and was very active with the Colon American Red Cross blood drives.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Watson, of Colon; two daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Watson of Phoenix and Kristen (James) Bearup of Plainwell; a granddaughter, Eva Bearup of Plainwell; his parents, Larry and Janet Watson Sr. of Green Valley, Ariz.; a brother, Thomas Watson of Green Valley; a sister, Candace (Joseph) Downing of Alburndale, Fla.; and four nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon, where a Celebration of Life Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Steven Zerbe will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Colon Historical Society or Colon Food Pantry. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
