Vera Wade, 99

Vera Ruth Wade, 99, of Sturgis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Centreville, following a short illness.

She was born March 30, 1914, in LaGrange, Ind. She had been a resident of the Sturgis area since 1970, coming from White Pigeon.

On May 29, 1937, she married Glen R. Wade in Columbia City, Ind. He died May 19, 1991.

She was a lifelong homemaker. Early in her life, she was employed at the Doctor’s Office In LaGrange, Ind.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in White Pigeon. She was a member of Circle of the Church, Mintdale Women’s Club, a 4-H teacher in sewing, knitting and crotcheting, and enjoyed gardening and plants.

Surviving are a sister, Jannette Rarick of Franklin, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and her adopted family, Bob and Dee Wise of Sturgis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Warren Todd; a sister, Leora Ranson.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Kaszar, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
