Board member resigning

The Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education is looking for a new member, as president Tom Robertson announced his resignation this week.

Robertson on Monday told board members he is accepting a new job as juvenile court director, and the position has the potential to put him in a conflict of interest as a school board member.

A successor to Robertson will be expected to complete his term, which expires in November 2014.

District residents interested in the one-year commitment are asked to submit a letter of interest, including a brief biography and explanation about why they are seeking the seat.

Letters will be accepted at the office of the superintendent through Dec. 2.
