Jim Kindig, 76

Jesse J. “Jim” Kindig, 76, of Marcellus, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 1, 1937 in Vestula, Ind. the son of Harry J. and Elsie V. (Blough) Kindig. On June 29, 1957 in Jones he married Janice Y. Martineau who survives.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1963 and was a local farmer all his life. He was a member of the District 4 Holstein Association and the Farm Bureau for many years.

Surviving besides his wife Janice, are four sons, James E., Jesse E. (Galina), Joey J. (Angi) and John L. Kindig all of Marcellus; two sisters, Mildred I. Beers of Texas and Desse Parker of Indiana; one brother, Richard W. (Joyce) Kindig of Cassopolis; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Howardsville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Sheldon Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Poe’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Howardsville Chapel/School or to the VA Paralyzed Veterans.
