William Maxwell “Max” Puckett was born March 18, 1982, in Sturgis. He lived his life in both Michigan and California. While living in Michigan, Max attended White Pigeon High School, Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Western Michigan University. He received his degree from Sacramento State University.
Max relished his time spent with family and friends at Klinger Lake. He loved spending time outdoors camping, four-wheeling and riding his motorcycle.
Diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at age 3, Max fought the good fight to beat cancer and meet the challenges of the side-effects of treatment.
He was much loved by his father, Bob Puckett (Suzi) of Sturgis; his mother, Kelly Cassidy Richardson (Peter) of Auburn, Calif; grandparents Dr. Robert and Jean Puckett of Sturgis; sister Amy Savacool (Michael) and their children Anna and Robby of San Diego, and sister Anne Puckett of Sutter Creek, Calif. He also leaves behind his Uncle David Puckett (Cathy), Aunt Nani Miller (Dennis); Cousins Daniel Puckett, Scott Puckett, Amanda Browning, Ryan Miller, Karen Bishop, Tommy Puckett and their families; Stepsiblings Doug Townsend, Kelly Digby and Cheryl Schaaf and their families; in addition to many dear friends that will miss him greatly.
Max’s life tragically ended in an accident on Oct. 29, 2013, in Sacramento, Calif. While his time with friends and family was cut short, we are better people for knowing and loving him.
A service will be held to celebrate Max’s life on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Auburn, Calif. Remembrances may be made to the Placer Community Foundation, P.O. Box 9207, Auburn, CA 95603, to be donated to Make-a-Wish foundation, a charity close to Max’s heart.
Godspeed to a dear and wonderful man.
