Miss Indiana USA

A White Pigeon-area native was recently crowned Miss Indiana USA.

Mekayla Diehl  won the Miss Indiana USA pageant last week in Indianapolis and in June will be one of 51 contestants vying for the crown of Miss USA.

The 24-year-old Diehl is a native of Union and was graduated from White Pigeon High School in 2007. She is also an Albion College alumna.

Diehl was a top-10 finisher in the Miss Indiana USA pageant in 2012, and 2013 was her final year of eligibility to participate in the national competition.

After judge interviews, and evening-gown and bathing-suit competitions, Diehl was declared Miss Indiana USA Nov. 3 from a field of 41 contestants.

She lives in Elkhart, where she is a buyer for a formal-dress shop.
