Richard E. “Dick” Rossman, 83, of Sturgis, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Froh Community Home in Sturgis.
Dick was a lifetime area resident of LaGrange County, Ind., and St. Joseph County, Mich.
He retired from Ross Labs/Abbott Labs in Sturgis after working there for 33 years.
He loved to go camping, hunting and to travel. He also loved his dog, Buffy, and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis.
He was born April 30, 1930, in Sturgis, to Leo W. and Nina (Yoder) Rossman.
On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Margaret Ringler in Valentine, Ind. She preceded him in death Sept. 23, 2007.
Surviving Dick are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Phillip Richardson, and Sue and Thomas Cripe, all of Sturgis; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard “Gary” Rossman of Centreville, and Tim and Debbey Rossman of Sturgis; his grandchildren, Carrie Hale, Jeremi Hale, Kristy (Vireak) Kong, Dan (Marcia) Cripe and Cody (Lisa) Cripe; great-grandchildren Chelsea and Madison Hale, Taylor, Emmilee and Tommy Cripe, and Briley and Wesson Cripe; a sister, Donna Frederick of Sun City, Ariz., a brother, Robert Rossman of Hillsdale; an Aunt, Loma Yoder of Howe, Ind.; and a special niece, Nancy Purcell of Sturgis.
Preceding Dick in death were his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Carl Dean and Chuck Rossman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1050 E. Fawn River Road, Sturgis. Pastor James Bender will officiate. Burial of Dick and his wife, Margaret, will take place in Burr Oak Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeremi Hale, Vireak Kong, Dan Cripe, Cody Cripe and Charles Richardson.
Memorials may be contributed to Heartland Hospice.
