Dwayne L. Detwiler, 76, of Three Rivers, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo from injuries received in an automobile accident in St. Joseph County. He was born in Three Rivers on Dec. 14, 1936 the son of Stanley and Laura (Halstead) Detwiler. After high school, Dwayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years. After returning to Three Rivers, he established A and Dee’s Bait and Tackle near Fishers Lake, which he has operated for the past 18 years.
Dwayne was married to Anna Medeiros in California on April 21, 1956. She survives along with four children, Dwayne Detwiler, Jr. of Constantine, Dana Detwiler of Three Rivers, Darlene (Donald) Annis of Centreville, and Darrel (Maria) Detwiler of Vicksburg; six grandchildren, Michael, Dannielle, Hollie, and Dylan Detwiler, Erin Macioce, and Robin Annis; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Detwiler, Jr. of Marcellus; a sister, Marquita Studabaker of Vicksburg; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Melvin Detwiler.
Cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 4 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Memorial services will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Anderson, Fire Department Chaplain, officiating followed by military honors. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
