Gym roof damaged by wind

Officials say a southwestern Michigan high school gymnasium that lost part of its roof in a windstorm is expected to be unusable for about two more months.  Workers have been trying to repair damage to Mattawan High School in Van Buren County. The Nov. 17 storm blew off part of the roof, sending water into the gym and cafeteria. Superintendent Patrick Bird says the original plan was to replace only the damaged part of the floor. But other parts of the floor started to buckle late last month, which led to the decision to replace the entire gym floor. Bird says he expects the gym to reopen by late February. Teams are using other facilities in the meantime.  (AP)
