LeRoy Noble Larson, age 82, of Clayton, and formerly of Mio and Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti.
LeRoy was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Washington, Mich., to Robert and Nona (Granseth) Larson. He was raised in Romeo.
LeRoy served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the GM Pontiac Motors Plant in Pontiac, retiring in 1979. He moved to Mio, where he owned Northern View Motel until 1994, when he moved to Sturgis. He settled in Clayton in 2010. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and going to auctions.
Surviving are his children, Debbie (Roy) Buchanan of Clayton and Jeanne (Toby) Shaw of Mio, and their mother, Joella Larson of Mio; four grandchildren, Kelly Bollaert, Tracey Buchanan, Matthew Shaw and Ashley Shaw; a sister, Waneta Berlin of Cheboygan; and three brothers, Bernard Larson of Fruitport, James (Betty) Larson of L’Anse and Daniel (Paulette) Larson of Houghton Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Larson; and a sister, Delores Spies.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Lashley Funeral Home in Mio. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Stadelmayer of Mio Church of God officiating. Military honors will be conferred by the Luzerne American Legion Post # 162. Interment will follow at Luzerne Cemetery in Luzerne.
