Man dies after collision

A Three Rivers man has died nearly a week after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident in Lockport Township.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said Dwayne Detwiler, 76, died Wednesday from injuries he suffered in the head-on collision at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 21 on M-60, near Mahnke Road.

Detwiler was driving west on M-60 when his vehicle collided with an eastbound car driven by Larry Westcomb, 21, of White Pigeon. Detwiler died at Borgess Medical Center.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, however, is reviewing the case with potential charges to be filed against Westcomb, according to sheriff’s deputies.
