Marilyn Malcolm, 65

Marilyn Kay Malcolm, 65, of Coldwater, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at home surrounded by family.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater with Pastor Aaron Chittick officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, Dec. 30 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 4-8 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Oak Grove Cemetery Chapel in Coldwater.

Marilyn was born on July 3, 1948 in Three Rivers. She graduated from Constantine High School in 1966. She met the love of her life Gary Malcolm, and they were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Three Rivers on March 7, 1970. Marilyn and Gary moved to Coldwater in 1977 due to a job opportunity for Gary. She worked at Southern Michigan Bank & Trust for 12 years, retiring in 2002. Marilyn also spent time working for the Secretary of State office in Coldwater and also in the office at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Marilyn was a loving family oriented wife, mother, and grand-mother. She was very active in 4-H where she was a leader for 27 years, also served as a den mother, chaperone, and worked in the 4-H eat stand. Marilyn was also active in her church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and sung in the choir. Marilyn’s biggest hobby was her flowers. She planted more than 6,000 flowers a year and spent many hours working her flowerbeds.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Gary; father, Guy Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; sons, Jeffery (Dorothy) Malcolm of Paw Paw and Brian (Stephanie) Malcolm of Mancelona; grand-children Emily, Andrew, Sarah, Katie, Daniel, Ashley and Kelsey Malcolm. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Miller; brother, Jerry Potter; grandson, David Cooper Malcolm passed away in April of 2013.
