New Internet agreement for county

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners has approved a service agreement with Ann Arbor-based Merit Network Inc.

During their Dec. 17 meeting, commissioners supported the service agreement that comes with the Internet line the county had previously approved and paid for.

The service agreement covers a five-year period and will go into effect when the Internet line is installed in early 2014.

In a related matter, human resources director Elishia Arver said the courthouse is now equipped with wireless Internet service. The service is available to the public, Arver noted, adding that the county’s information technology department is still working on a log-in line for county employees, who will have additional access not available through the public log-in.
