Colon resident Ron Carnell has announced the village will be the site of the 45th annual Michigan Magic Day in April.
The International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 386 in Colon will host the two-day gathering April 11 and 12, the first time the community will have hosted the annual event.
Carnell said around 150 magicians from around the Midwest are expected to attend. The core of the event is a series of private, daylong lectures. Carnell, however, said a public performance will take place April 12 at Colon High School.
Colon hosting the annual gathering is unusual, Carnell said, because of its small size. The gathering typically rotates host cities between Flint, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor.
