Clifford L. Lloyd, age 67, of Sturgis, passed away early Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 15, 1946, in Sacramento, Calif., a son of the late Clifford and Evelyn (Deweese) Lloyd.
Cliff resided in Sturgis since 1977, coming from Somerville, Mass. On Jan. 13, 1968, he married Irene Mary MacDonald in Somerville. She died Aug. 19, 2012.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service following more than 25 years of dedicated service as a rural mail carrier.
Cliff attended Brighton Chapel in Brighton, Ind., and was also a member of Eagles Lodge #1314. He enjoyed bird watching, most anything mechanical, woodworking, was meticulous in the upkeep of his yard and he had a passion for classic automobiles, especially his 1955 Chevy. Cliff had many interests and hobbies but what he truly loved was time spent with his grandsons.
Cliff was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of E-5.
He is survived by a son, Clifford (Jennifer) Lloyd of Howe, Ind.; and two grandsons, Connor Lloyd and Christian Lloyd.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating the life of Clifford L. Lloyd will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ruston Krapfl of Brighton Chapel will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
