Douglas Cunningham, 54

Douglas Allen Cunningham, age 54, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 14, 1959 a son of Howard and Melva (Veon) Cunningham at Three Rivers Hospital.

Following graduation from Centreville High School in 1979 he farmed with his father & brother, raising livestock, crops and training harness racing horses. He was employed by Centreville Public Schools as a bus driver for 28 years, and also enjoyed taking care of the race track during the Centreville Fair for many years. Doug lived his entire life in rural Centreville.

He is survived by a son, David Cunningham, Sturgis, granddaughters Izabella and Sophia Cunningham, Sturgis, his mother Melva Jane (Veon) Cunningham and brother DeWayne (Tish) Cunningham, Centreville, nephew Daryl Cunningham, White Pigeon; aunts Carol Snow Penn, Centreville and Cheryl Glazener, Norfolk, VA; uncle Allen (Jan) LaRea, Petersburg, MI, and several cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Cunningham and former wife Linda Bellaire.

Relatives and friends will be received from 11 am to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 13th at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. A memorial service will follow at 1pm with Russ Stauffer officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family.
