Martha A. Krautwurst, 90, of Three Rivers, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at the Heartland Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug. 28, 1923 in Weisenfelde, Germany, the daughter of the late Daniel and Bronislawa (Stettinow) Komm.
Mrs. Krautwurst was united in marriage to the late Alexander Krautwurst on March 2, 1950 in Germany. Together they moved to the Three Rivers area in 1961 with their family. Martha was employed at Continental Can Co. and also Mendon Harness before retiring in the early 1980’s. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and her favorite card game Rummikub. Her greatest joy was spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 13 siblings.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory one daughter, Erika (Carl) Ehrman of Kalamazoo and their children, Melissa (Matthew) Doxey of Zeeland and Amy (Robert) Bessler of San Francisco, Calif.; two sons, Dennis Krautwurst of Three Rivers and Erik (Deborah) Krautwurst of East Grand Rapids, and their children, Travis and Kellee Krautwurst; two great-grandchildren, Makena and Ethan Doxey; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of celebration at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in later spring.
