Peggy A. Schaeffer, 76, of Sturgis, and formerly of Wolcottville, Ind., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
Mrs. Schaeffer was born Aug. 4, 1937 in New Haven, Ind., to Raymond E. and Vera C. (Papenbrock) Burchardt. They preceded her in death.
On June 19, 1962, she married Gary L. Schaeffer in New Haven, Ind. He survives in Sturgis.
In her early years, she worked for the Indiana District Office of the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Ind. From 1974 until their retirement in 2002, she was a partner with her husband in Schaeffer Appliance Store in Wolcottville.
Mrs. Schaeffer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Meyers. She also was a member of the Rome City American Legion Auxiliary in Rome City, Ind., Johnson Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies Aide of the church.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Thresa and Kyle Capron of Fishers, Ind., and Julia and Bige Doyle of Crothersville, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Kim Schaeffer of Sturgis; and five grandchildren, Erica and Evan Doyle, Shi-ann and Kody Schaeffer, and Dmitry Capron.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Ind., with the Rev. Cal Kolzow officiating.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the funeral home.
