The seven-member Colon Village Council took a tour of the rebuilt Curly’s bar and restaurant following its meeting Tuesday.
Though the eatery is a month from reopening following a March fire that destroyed the original Curly’s, the replacement is taking shape nicely, owners Dan and Kathy Earl said.
Many of the kitchen appliances are in place, flooring has been installed, overhead lighting is set and the base for the bar has been constructed, featuring bricks salvaged from the rubble of the former building.
Village officials complemented the Earls on the look of the business and indicated they look forward to not only having Curly’s back in business, but to enjoy a meal on the newly created outdoor seating area.
A kitchen appliance is believed to have started the fire that leveled the original Curly’s.
