Wreckers have been busy

Triple A Michigan says it has helped at least 2,200 motorists slammed by snow and low temperatures. Spokeswoman Nancy Cain says it’s not a record, but crews have been “extremely busy” Monday. The problems include dead batteries, cars in ditches after slipping off roads, no gas and people locked out of their vehicles while warming them up. Cain said 2,200 motorists had been helped by 4 p.m., most of them in southeastern Michigan. Cain says steady snow and cold weather have kept the phones ringing at AAA Michigan since New Year’s Day. The state has been hit by more than 1 1/2 feet of snow in places over the weekend, following an earlier winter storm.  (AP)
