Ardena Wells, 86

Ardena Joyce Wells, age 86, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2014,at the New Friends Assisted Living, Kalamazoo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Three Rivers, MI., on Feb. 3, 1928, the daughter of Bernard and Pauline Wetherbee Smith.

On Jan. 20, 1950, Ardena married the love of her life, Mr. Lane Wells. Together they raised three children, partly in Three Rivers and eight years in Grand Haven where she and Lane attended the Methodist Church of the Dunes. Ardena worked in banking for many years before finishing her career as a bookkeeper for W.F. Wells & Sons before retiring.

Mrs. Wells was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Three Rivers where she sang in the choir. She loved flowers of all kinds and working in her garden.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband of 64 years, Lane Wells, of Three Rivers; three children, Michael (Sharon) Wells, of Houston, TX.; Nancy Wells of Three Rivers, and Diana (Steven) Wells-Wilson of Sturgis, MI.; one sister, Huberta (Skip) Nisonger of Three Rivers; one brother Harold (Harriet) Smith of Traverse City, MI.; four grandchildren, Brandon, Carrie, Sarah, and Abbey; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Bradley, Ethan, and Logan.

Per Ardena’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment of cremains will be held in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to Southwest Michigan Hospice. Envelopes are available at the Hohner Funeral Home in care of Ardena’s arrangements.
