Brent Walters, 57

Brent A. Walters, age 57, of Battle Creek, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 13, 2014, at his home.

He was born May 13, 1956, in Sturgis, a son of the late LaVerne and Shirley (Kunce) Walters.

Brent graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1974. He also attended Glenn Oak Community College and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was employed by Abbott Labs in Sturgis for 28 years and received multiple presidential awards for his dedicated employment.

Brent enjoyed his time living on the farm on Sherman Mills Road and also enjoyed martial arts and was a master in archery, a boy scout leader, coach of little league, pilot of ultralight aircraft and a dedicated and involved father to his children and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Danielle Walters of Middlebury, Ind., and Angela (John) Thompson of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, Travis Walters of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Paige, Haiden and Olivia; a sister, Constance Rose (Bill) Martindale of Sturgis, a brother, Brian Walters of Sturgis; his former wife and friend of 26 years, Pamela Walters of Elkhart, Ind.; and his beloved dog: Sheeba.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bruce A. Walters.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11 a.m. Friday, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.

Services celebrating the life of Brent A. Walters will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial donations be directed to V.A. Medical Center, 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037.
