Doris Elaine Shoesmith, age 82, of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 6, 1931 in Grand Rapids, MI., the daughter of Floyd and Imogene (Lett) Wolford.
On August 12, 1950 she married the love of her life Mr. Ewalt Shoesmith. Elaine was a wonderful woman, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and a blessing to all who met her. She and Walt owned and operated the Hoffman Street Grocery for many years. Elaine’s true love was spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will truly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband of 63 years, Ewalt “Walt” Shoesmith, of Three Rivers; three sons, David J. (Brenda), of Three Rivers, Dennis A. (Mitzi), of Sturgis, MI., and Darin R. (Teri) Shoesmith, of Three Rivers, Ten grandchildren, David, Garrett, Travis, Lisa, Eric, Jimmy, Ryan, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Jacob.; eight great grandchildren; brother-in- law, Dallas(Carol)Shoesmith of Battle Creek, MI; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family invites friends to help celebrate Elaine’s Life from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at the Three Rivers Joco Center ; 805 Wood St; Three Rivers, MI 49093.
Memorials may be donated to Three Rivers Hospital Hospice. Envelopes available at the Hohner Funeral Home in care of Elaine’s arrangements and also at the Joco Center.
