Grants fulfilled

The Mendon School Foundation said 35 of the 38 requests submitted for the 2013 program were filled.

Bonnie Outman, treasurer of the 10-member foundation board, said the community and its donors deserve thanks and recognition for supporting more than 90 percent of the requests.

Funded requests included a variety of gymnasium equipment, field trips, teacher workshops, technology-related items, books and a variety of classroom-needed tools and items.

Through its 26-year history, the Mendon School Foundation has had strong support from donors who include the Mendon Women’s Club, TH Plastics, Monsanto, Parkville Prairie Farms and Mendon Auto Supply.

Outman said several of the mini-grant requests are filled via “in memory of” or “in honor of” bequeaths.

Requests by district staff members for the 2014 campaign will be collected in October.
