Jerry Lee Moyer, age 69, of Leonidas, died Saturday Feb. 15, 2014 at Three Rivers Health following a long illness. He was born in Vicksburg, MI on Nov. 23, 1944 the son of Carlton and Ruth (Shingledecker) Moyer. He was a graduate of Vicksburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy in Germany, Italy, and Vietnam. Jerry was married to Cheryl MacDonald on Nov. 8, 1969 in Union City, MI. Jerry was a 32 year employee of General Motors in Kalamazoo and Marion, IN. He was a member of the former Leonidas Community Action Group. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, gardening, and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl; two children, Tracie (Michael) Whittington of Leonidas and Casey (Janice) Moyer of Three Rivers; grandchildren, Christian and Jared Adams, Bailey and Carlie Moyer; step-grandchildren, Luke and Kayla Whittington; special family member, Mark Adams; sisters, Marjorie Williamson and Charlene Boodt; sister in law, Ruth Moyer; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence Moyer; and father in law, Carl MacDonald.
Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 22, 1014 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Pastor Greg Long of the Sturgis Baptist Church officiating. A private military interment will take place in Leonidas Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either the Leonidas Fire Department, or to the family.
