Vickie L. Kirkum, age 61, of Coldwater, and formerly of Colon, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
Vickie was born June 24, 1952, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Alvin J. and Wava J. (Wallman) Dobberteen.
Vickie had lived most of her life in St. Joseph County, attending Colon High School, and moving to Coldwater in 2009.
On Sept. 28, 1970, she married Melvin Kirkum in Coldwater. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1979.
Vickie had been employed at the Colon Community School for several years and later was the manager at Mystic Grove Apartments in Colon.
She is survived by two brothers, Steven S. (Georgia) Dobberteen and John A. Dobberteen, both of Burr Oak; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her life partner, Noah A. Miller, in 2009; and a sister, Mary F. White, in 1980.
There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service and burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
