Wally Bristow, 68

Wallace Earl Bristow, 68, of Colon, died Monday at his home.

Wally was born Dec, 3, 1945, in Aberdeen, N.C., to the late Harris L. Bristow and Una M Bristow “Allred.” Wally graduated and served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1966. In 1975, he married Ottilie Bristow and they lived in Taylor until they moved to Sturgis in 1996.

Wally was a truck driver for Sturgis Iron and Metal for several years. He loved fishing, driving the big rigs and his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He loved bonfires and nature. He also loved taking car rides to watch deer with his wife, Tilly. Most of all, he loved to tease and laugh.

Wally is survived by five daughters, Linda Hankins, Margret Reynolds, Chris Schonmeier, Pamela Parker and Angie McCallister. He also has three siblings, sisters Kathy King and Sharon Davis and a brother, John Bristow. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harris and Una Bristow; a sister, Betty Smith; and a son, Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 78960, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8960.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. Roger Moyer of Sturgis Evangelical Church officiating.
