Alan Scott Carpenter, age 51, of Parchment, Mich., and formerly of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly on or after Feb. 28, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 9, 1962, in Sturgis, a son to the late James and Dorothy (Miller) Carpenter.
On June 30, 1990, he married Shelley Myers in Sturgis. This marriage ended in divorce.
Alan had been employed by International Paper in Sturgis for 25 years and he enjoyed raising fish in his aquariums, hot sauce on just about everything, and was proud of and especially enjoyed time with his daughters.
Surviving are one daughter, Alycia Carpenter of Sturgis; four brothers, Doug, Mike, Dave, and Todd Carpenter all of Sturgis; five sisters, Sharon Pemberton of Colon, Marilyn Broadbridge of White Pigeon, Sandy Courtney, Deb Coleman, and Kathy Carpenter all of Sturgis; and step-son, Josh Voorde of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Jessica Carpenter on Oct. 15, 2005.
Interment and a graveside service to celebrate the life of Alan Scott Carpenter will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Ontario Cemetery in Ontario, Ind. The family suggest memorial donations be directed to the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091 who has been entrusted with the arrangements
