Donald L. Stauffer, age 78, of Centreville, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family, after several weeks of failing health.
Donnie was born June 7, 1935, in Centreville, a son of the late Christian and Emily (Schwartz) Stauffer.
Donnie had made his home at his present address, where he had enjoyed farming most of his life.
He attended New Beginnings Church of Sturgis. Donnie enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, hunting and was one of the founding members of Wasepi Bluegrass Gospel Singers.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Stauffer of Centreville; a son, Randy (Melissa) Stauffer of Centreville; four grandchildren, Noah, Courtney, Danielle and Sarah Stauffer, all at home; a sister, Mary Schwartz of Colon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sally Zehr, Katherine Wilcox and Virginia Stauffer; and four brothers, Amos, Christopher, Menno and Freeman Stauffer.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Donnie L. Stauffer will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at New Beginnings Church, Sturgis, with Pastor Randy Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Nottawa Township Cemetery in Nottawa.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Donnie to New Beginnings Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
