Lyle Harvey Millard, age 74 of Mendon died peacefully on March 18, 2014 at his riverfront home surrounded by his family. He was born in Mendon on July 10, 1939 the son of Arthur and Gladys (Orr) Millard and was a lifetime resident of Mendon. Lyle began his working life at Simpson Lee Paper Company and later at Wyant Heating & Plumbing. He worked for Cassleman Heating & Air Conditioning for 17 years before starting his own business, Lyle Millard Heating and Air Conditioning which he operated for the next 20 years. He enjoyed time with family and friends, boating along the St. Joseph River, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Three Rivers.
Lyle was married to Sandra Adams on Aug. 3, 1957 in Colon. She survives along with three children, Douglas Lee (Janet Whitney) Millard of Troy, MO, Becky Lou (Jerry Audette) Millard of Mendon, and Billy J. “Jim” Millard of Allentown, PA; five grandchildren, Daniel, Danica, Chad, Joshua, and Jessica; nine great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Curtis, Jayden, Alexis, Lexie, Jace, Skye, Lucas, and Dominic; and a sister, Barbara Jean McClish. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Kathy Lynn and Vicky Sue; a brother, Charles Millard; and his mother and father in law Archie and Ginny Hawver.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 in Mendon Cemetery with Rev. Rob Nystrom officiating. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be directed to the Three Rivers Health Hospice.
