Pearl Marion Bailey, age 102, passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2014, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born April 23, 1911, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Charles and Petronelle Lupenski.
Mrs. Bailey resided in Sturgis since 1974, coming from Chicago.
In January 1971, she married Alvin Bailey in Chicago. He died October 18, 1979.
She retired from the Standard Brands Company in Chicago, where she was employed from 1941-1973.
Mrs. Bailey attended Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis and was an active member of the Commission on Aging in Sturgis. She enjoyed reading, watching television and crocheting.
She had 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Dolores (Preusser) Scanlon; two sons, Raymond Preusser Sr. and Donald Preusser; three sisters; and two brothers.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A special memorial service celebrating the life of Pearl Bailey will be held at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
