Stewart named to All-State

Sturgis High School’s Chance Stewart was named a member of the Class B All-State basketball team by the Michigan Associated Press.

Stewart, who has signed a letter of intent to play football for Western Michigan University in the fall, was a Class B honorable-mention basketball recipient a year ago.

Stewart is second in career scoring leaders for the Trojans and set a single-game scoring record for Sturgis this past season, when he scored 43 points against Kalamazoo Loy Norrix during post-season play earlier this month.

The Associated Press Class B basketball All-State team, as selected by a panel of 11 Michigan sports writers, included Corky Emrick of the Sturgis Journal.
