Superintendent finalists

A field of three superintendent finalists for Colon Community Schools will be identified next week.

Four candidates – Victor Bungi, Mike Campbell, Robert Jansen and Drew Bordner – were interviewed Monday. The process continued Tuesday when Eric Kistler, Mike Corey and Pam Duffy were interviewed.

Board of Education President Ernie Baker said the next step will be taken Monday, when board members plan to trim the list to a trio of finalists. The district would like to have its new superintendent on board by the end of April.

The position has been filled on an interim basis by Jay Newman since Lloyd Kirby retired last August after a 20-year tenure with the district.

Baker said he hopes the community gets more involved when the three finalists are interviewed and questions from the public will be encouraged.

Monday’s board meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Colon High School’s media center.
