Businesses making improvements

Mendon Village Manager John Hyden said the Mendon Downtown Development Authority is offering a $10,000 façade-improvement matching grant.

Any business willing to dress up the front and/or rear of its exterior, make improvements such as new windows or doors, or refresh or upgrade landscaping, is eligible for the matching funds.

He said three business owners have already hired contractors to make upgrades. One plans to paint, and add overhead doors and awnings; the second intends to improve their front entrance and add a small deck; the third is looking at making a new entryway,  reinsulating inside the business and undertaking general improvements to the front and rear of their business.

The Mendon DDA, a 10-member board with one seat currently available, supports 26 businesses from Nottawa Road west to the village’s industrial park.
