Jean McKenzie, 89

Jean McKenzieJean Marie McKenzie, age 89, of Three Rivers, passed away early Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Riverview Manor following a short illness. Jean was born May 3, 1924 in Three Rivers, the daughter of George H. and Vera (Boyer) Harmon.

Jean was a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. She was extremely active in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many offices from Chaplain to President, also 8 & 40 past president as well. She was employed for Oldsmobile in Lansing and also Montgomery Ward in Three Rivers. Jean enjoyed selling Avon as the ‘”Avon Lady” to many, always showing up with her basket of goodies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph McKenzie, two sons, Joseph “Skip” McKenzie IV, Patrick M. McKenzie, two sisters, Grace and Helen Dodge, one brother Art Harmon, grandson, Ronald “Jay” Hotovy, and a great granddaughter, Rhonda McKenzie.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, Vickie (Doug) Austin, and Sharon (Ed) English, both of Three Rivers; one brother, George Harmon, of Carol, MI.; six grandchildren, Patrick, Farrah, and Myrriah McKenzie, Scott Maurer, Chad Hotovy, and Nichole Mosty. Seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8th, 2014 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Karleen Kinker officiating.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
