Junior Sindt, 83

Sindt obitGordon Junior Sindt, age 83 of Three Rivers departed this life April 19, 2014. He was a gentle soul with an infectious smile. Junior was born April 5, 1931 in Dowagiac, MI to Gordon J. and Iris (Weidman) Sindt. He graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1949. After working at area businesses Junior joined and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. A medaled veteran of the Korean War, he returned from the military and worked for Three Rivers Builders until beginning his service with the U.S. Postal Service in 1960. Junior was best known in Three Rivers as the friendly mail carrier in Three Rivers’ third ward. Later in life Junior assisted at the Halverson Chapel for many years.

After retiring in 1993 Junior enjoyed daily pontoon rides on Pleasant Lake with his friends and family. He was an avid reader looking for any Western novel he could find. He never wavered in his passion for the Chicago Cubs despite many seasons of wanting more. Over his lifetime Junior enjoyed great times with “The Gang” and you know who you are! But most of all Junior enjoyed the time spent with his extended family.

Since May of 1975 Junior has been loved by Mary Ann (Doane) Sindt and there was no doubt he shared the same love for her. Between the two of them, they shared many nieces and nephews which is where Junior’s love and pride has shown the most. Our Uncle Junior was adored by all of us. The bottom line with Junior was, if you met him, you loved him. We were all blessed to have him in our lives.

Junior will be dearly missed by niece, Jackie (Gary) Schneider of Marquette; nephew, Steve (Terry) Krull of Constantine; great-nephews & great-niece Jeremy (Sara) Schneider, Rachel (Jody Alger) Krull, Tim Krull and great-great-nephews & nieces Gaven, Troy, Morgan, and Mira along with his sister Betty Krull of Portage; and many cousins.
