A tentative trial date for the man accused of killing a Sturgis accountant has been scheduled for June 24.
The date for suspect Andy Brown was set during a status conference Monday by St. Joseph County 45th Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman. Pre-trial motions are scheduled for May 16.
Brown, of Portage, is charged with the 2013 murder of Sturgis accountant David Locey.
During the status conference, prosecutors said they await one piece of evidence from the Michigan State Police crime unit. That evidence will be sent to a lab in Pennsylvania for testing.
Brown was arrested Oct. 2 following the shooting death of Locey. Brown was arrested at the scene and later charged with embezzlement. Those charges were eventually dropped and the murder charge was issued.
Brown remains in the St. Joseph County Jail.
