Hal Stienbarger, 92

Hal Stienbarger, age 92, of Mendon, died Monday May 5, 2014 at the Birches AFC in Leonidas. He was born at the family farm in Mendon on Aug. 9, 1921 the son of Clark H. and Bessie B. (Casselman) Stienbarger. He attended the North Star Country School and was a lifetime resident of Mendon. Hal engaged in general and dairy farming. He established Stienbarger Spraying Service in 1964 and continued to operate the business until just a few years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and travelling later in life.

Hal was married to Kathryn Buchner in Mendon on June 18, 1943. She survives along with three children, Ann (Gary) Henckel, Larry Stienbarger, and Stanley (Linda) Stienbarger all of Mendon; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Florence) Stienbarger of Mendon; sisters in law, Maxine Stienbarger and Pearl Collins; brother in law, Sharon Buchner; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Jean Carkenord.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Factoryville Bible Church. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday May 8, 2014 at the Factoryville Bible Church, 1291 Factoryville Road, Athens, MI 49011 with Pastor Fred Goebert officiating. Following a luncheon burial will be in Beard Cemetery. Memorials will be directed to The Birches AFC, 30895 King Road, Leonidas, MI 49066.
