Mildred Weisenbarger, 94

Mildred Hazel Weisenbarger, born June 29, 1919, daughter of Cecil and Bertha Jones, was called to Heaven May 4, 2014 to join her beloved husband, Hubert. Mildred will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sherry (Bill) Marietti; grandchildren, Angela (Scott) Lamiman, Stephanie (Chris) Benedict, Carla Marietti and Nick (Alexandra) Marietti. “Grandma Weisey” will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Emma, Caroline, Teddy, and Katie Lamiman, Gabrielle, Hadyn, and Easton Benedict, and Max Marietti.

Mildred was born and grew up in Lebo, Kansas. Her family moved to Indiana when she was a senior in high school and then moved to Arcanum, Ohio where she met the love of her life while working in the soda shop. Mildred and Hubert were married June 29, 1939 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1989. They resided in Dayton, Ohio where Mildred worked as a beautician and also as a clerk typist during WWII. When their daughter, Sherry was born they moved to Gordon, Ohio. Hubert’s job took the family to Three Rivers in 1963 where they made their home for many years.

Mildred was very active in the First United Methodist Church as a member of the UMW and the Three Rivers Women’s Club. She was very committed to her church and was always willing to help when needed, baking pies, serving meals, and making crafts for the Methodist Fair. Her flower gardens were pristine and the house was always beautifully decorated for Christmas. Mildred enjoyed watching Kansas basketball, the Detroit Tigers, and Lawrence Welk. She also loved playing cards and quilting with the “Quilt Ladies” in her basement where Hubert would serve refreshments.

A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 12 at the First United Methodist Church, 215 N. Main St., Three Rivers, with Pastor Rob Nystrom officiating, and where the family will welcome guests for one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed at www.efhchapel.com.
