Three people were hospitalized following a hit-and-run accident last weekend in Cass County’s Penn Township.
Sheriff Joe Underwood Jr. said 49-year-old Delbert Raeder of Elkhart was driving east on M-60 around 3 p.m. Sunday, when his vehicle was rear-ended by a newer-model pickup.
The force of the contact pushed Raeder’s vehicle off the roadway and into the front deck of a house before coming to rest after striking a tree.
Raeder and 49-year-old Elkhart resident Carla Moore were in stable condition at Three Rivers Health. A backseat passenger, David Raeder, of Elkhart, was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he was in critical condition.
The dark-colored pickup sustained front-end damage and was leaking engine fluid.
