Tom Dentler, 64

Thomas E. Dentler, age 64, of Marcellus, MI passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at home.

He was born July 17, 1949 in Porter Township, MI the son of Raymond and Veda (Johnson) Dentler. On May 20, 2000 in Marcellus he married Peggy Freeze who survives.

He was a Navy Veteran and was employed by American Axle and previous to that at Peterson Spring for 25 years. Tom was a very caring, outgoing man who didn’t know a stranger. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Surviving besides his wife Peg, are two daughters, Kathy Jo Springer of Vandalia, MI and Rhiley Dentler at home; one son, Michael (Jeni) Dentler of Kendallville, IN; one step-son, Jerry Swartz of West Virginia; one sister, Bernadine (Gordon) McNeal of Clairmont, FL and sister in law Roberta Dentler of Zeeland, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charley Dentler.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday, May 19, 2014 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus and from 3 to 5 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in the Marcellus United Methodist Church, Marcellus.

Funeral services will be held at 5 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in the Marcellus United Methodist Church, Marcellus with Pastor John Messner officiating.

Memorial donations may be directed to Rhiley Denter’s College Fund in c/o Peggy Dentler or the American Cancer Society.
