Carol Ann Chartrand, age 71, of Mendon, died Thursday June 12, 2014 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Blue Island, IL on Nov. 22, 1942 the only child of Earl and Arleene (Speece) Sutton. Following her father’s death her mother brought her to the Three Rivers area. She attended the Moorepark Elementary School and later graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1961. Carol attended Tracy’s Beauty Academy in Kalamazoo and worked as a beautician at Hair Art in Mendon for twenty five years. For the next twenty two years she worked as a clerk- receptionist at the Best Western, Super 8, and America’s Best Value Inns all of Three Rivers. She was a former member of the Mendon Womens Club.
Carol was married to Jerry Chartrand on Oct. 28, 1961 in Mendon. He survives along with three children, Tonya Chartrand of Kalamazoo, Robert (Selenia) Chartrand of Sturgis, and Mikel Chartrand of Mendon; eight grandchildren, Kevin Lytle, Stephanie Chartrand, Jalen Chartrand, Kasey Chartrand, Sarena Dentler, Katriel Chartrand, Joe Chartrand, and Zac Chartrand. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Charles Carrow; and her uncle, Bill Speece.
It was Carol’s wish to be cremated and to have a private interment of ashes in Mendon Cemetery. No services are planned at this time. It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to Three Rivers Health- Hospice, 701 S. Health Parkway, Three Rivers, MI 49093.
