John “Grady” Overton, 85, of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Three Rivers Health following a brief illness. He was born in Boydell, Ark. on Jan. 25, 1929, the son of the late Edger and Alma (Bradley) Overton.
Grady attended school in Jerome before moving to Bald Knob, Ark. In 1949 he was united in marriage to Marion Laurell Whitney. In 1952 they moved to Three Rivers where John was employed at Essex Wire for 16 years and later Grumman Olson for 10 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed farming, camping, and woodworking for many years. Grady was a member of Marcellus Baptist Church and later Flowerfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Overton was also preceded in death by one brother, Herman Overton and one sister, Hazel Pearrow.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 65 years, Marion Overton of Three Rivers; three sons, John (Lorie), Don (Judy) and Mike Overton, all of Three Rivers; one sister, Melba English of Searcy, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 12 at Flowerfield Cemetery, Flowerfield Township.
