A public hearing on parking violations in Constantine is on tap next month, following discussion at a recent Constantine Village Council meeting.
Council members earlier this month dis cussed imposing stiff fines, including vehicle impound ment, for improper and over time parking in the business district.
The council set a public hearing for 7:05 p.m. July 21 regarding the issue. Village manager Mark Honeysett said officers do not write many parking cita tions but a significant per centage of what they do write are not paid promptl y, if at all.
He said Department of Public Works employees made numerous complaints about people parking downtown between 2 and 6 a.m., when park ing is forbidden and poses a considerable prob lem when there is a need for snow removal.
